You can clean glass with a Brillo or S.O.S. pad. Contrary to popular belief, these pads do not scratch glass…but they do remove paint spatter and would remove the grout from the glass tiles.

If you’re skeptical, test one small area first. If you scrub with a wet Brillo or S.O.S., the pad will not scratch the glass. Then move on and clean the rest of the tile.

I do not recommend using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. These do scratch glass. Chemicals could harm the glass as well. Stick with a wet Brillo or S.O.S. Then wipe with wet cloths or wet microfiber when finished.

Do you have to use a special grout on the shower floor?

I think glass tiles would be too slippery on a shower floor. I’ve only seen them on backsplashes and walls, but you could ask someone at lowes or HD for their advice.

not sure which glass tiles you are wanting? are you talking about glass tiles like for a kitchen backsplash or a glass window pane?

if your just looking for a glass "square", just go buy a cheap picture frame from a dollar store or walmart for $2 or so. take the glass out and voilaaaaaa!
or if you are looking for something thicker, like a tile, try home depot or lowes and for less than $5 each you can snag some glass tiles
you could also try calling a glass company (check your yellow pages) and tell them you are a student looking for glass for a class project. companies may be willing to donate to your project, especially with scraps that would be thrown out any way.

On the other side of bathroom i want to do glass tiles on the whole wall for accent but do i need to put up backerboard or can i just put it up on the sheetrock?

Just as the others said, as long as it isn t in a water area, going over the dry wall is fine.
The use of a special thin set mortar is all thats called for when using glass tiles.

They are not rated to be used in a floor application, let alone on a sloped, wet slippery floor. They will scratch easily also on floors.
Use them as accents on the wall in some way. This will also tend to draw the eye up to the tile and not down to the floor.
