First, remove the cat’s poop. It’s unhealthy to have such a thing inside a house. Put compost instead. The marble stones or pebbles will be perfect.

Mine is to someday own a coffeehouse. To build it brand-new, the coffee tables sleek marble top with cool lighting fixtures and stairs made of teak wood that creak old-fashioned like when you walk up them— leading to a loft with cool leather sofas, more coffee tables and a cool looking fireplace that I would light in the wintertime (is there a way to get fake apple scented firelogs? I only ask because the fireplace would have to be one of those fake, decorative ones, with the gas flames encased behind glass, otherwise I might get sued for someone getting accidentally burned). The place would have free WiFi so people could bring their laptops and ipads. I would have every imaginable coffee drink you could think of. All the flavored mocas, lattes (iced or hot), cappuccinos, frozen hot chocolates, smoothies, teas (iced or hot), up to 15 different ways to flavor your tea, all of it. I would carry the obligatory breakfast muffins, bagels, baked pretzels. I was once inside a mall and they had a restaurant that sold large, gourmet slices of pizza that you just don’t find at the local pizza hut, know what I’m saying? I would do the same, selling gourmet slices of pizza. I would even sell books—just ones by popular authors though. The place would have a very cool, ambient feel to it. Who thinks this would be a good business?

My dream is to be treated to some free capuccino in your dream coffee house.

A friend and I are in charge of decorating for our spring formal, and for centerpieces, we were going to do candles in wine bottles. However, after thinking about it, we came up with the idea to get tall cylinder vases, fill the bottoms with black gravel and blue marbles, and put a few small feeder goldfish in it. Would that be better than the wine bottles? I know that the gravel colors would tie in with our theme colors, and the fish would tie in with a fish pond that we’re going to be doing as the center of our "central park" garden.

P.S- I don’t want to be berated for using animals as "decorations". We’ll be treating them well, feeding them, conditioning their water and using only aquarium quality gravel and decorative stones. After the formal is over, they will be going to good homes; a few of us already have aquariums ready for them.

P.P.S- Just wondering, would floating candles harm the fish?
Nesli K- Thanks for the advice! We’re going to address everyone before hand and tell them that they can’t take the fish home. And yep! We were talking about the taper candles in wine bottles. Our event is inside, but one reason I was a little hesitant would be fire hazards.

Thanks to everyone else, too!

Floating candles won’t harm feeder goldfish. They are amazing survivors usually. Neat idea

Tic Toc Tic Toc
And the countdown had begun. For six years, Shela had been waiting for that day with great anticipation. And now, less than twenty-four hours away, the fatigue was outweighing her urges to celebrate. Shela was used to handling high amounts of stress, but lately she had been exhausted. Between studying for finals, research papers, and caring for her paraplegic brother, Shela’s body was worn-out, and it was starting to retaliate. Hopefully after the ceremony, she would be able to get some rest, relax, retreat, take better care of her body and finally find the time to enjoy her newly decorated sanctuary. Her bedroom had always been her asylum and Shela had just recently switched its theme from a serene forest to more like a midnight breeze. From the tranquil blue to the nice fish tank that could actually make her fell like she’s hearing the ocean breeze, that room had all the elements that would make anyone want to relax. This was her ideal relaxation zone but she hadn’t found the time to exploit its beauty yet. The designer’s goal was to make everyone that walked in feel like they’ve immediately entered into a fantasy place. “When you walk into your bedroom Ms Shela, I want you to feel like you’re on the beach. I want all your troubles slip away-at least momentarily.” He had told her. He sure kept his words. The offspring of his imagination was enough to take anyone’s breath away. The sand-colored furniture he prescribed made it feel like she was actually in that scene. The pieces were arranged beautifully and they weren’t all cluttered together. On one side of the room was a nice cozy chaise and on the other was the bed and dressing furniture. No television. No radio. No distraction. The only accessories she had were vases, marbles, paintings, a few books, and a bowl of decorative blue rocks. The rest of the house was big enough for all the other crazy, and exotic decorative pieces. But even though her luxurious house was very well organized and she had multiple walk-in closets, that night she made sure she got everything ready, close to sight just in case she woke up too late on her special day. Normally, she didn’t wear any jewelry, but she was going to make an exception on that particular day.
A couple of years earlier, one of her classmates by the name of Barbara Africana had given her a nice set of authentic tribal African jewelry. Shela valued the gift and, in fact, as a sign of gratitude and appreciation, she promised to wear it on one of the most out-of-the-ordinary days in her life. It seemed like that day had come, seeing that the extremely exhausted Shela was trying on the set for the first time. They were made of dark brown wood. “This symbolizes our connection to the earth and to each other,” her African comrade told her when she had given Shela the jewelry set. There were something exceptional about this young lady, but Shela couldn’t pinpoint what it was. If it was meant to be, one day she eventually would find out about Barbara’s uniqueness. As she was sitting on the lounger, she closed her eyes picturing the warm sand on her feet, smelling the fresh ocean water, and picturing the palm trees swaying in the wind, Shela really began to appreciate her calming place. She subliminally started thinking about some of the deepest conversations she used to have with the extremely smart and culturally adept Barbara; and just like that Shela fell into a soothing sleep on the lounger.

You should break your text into more paragraphs – a break after "newly decorated sanctuary" and another after "he had told her", then one after "Barbara’s uniqueness" would be a start.

It’s impossible to edit the text without knowing the novel’s plot but as it stands we get taken into some pretty big chunks of text on things that probably wouldn’t really interest the reader. Do we need to know the back history of how her room was designed, or the design details? Or the African jewellery? Or Barbara? We might do, they might be crucial to the plot but until the reader knows that I suggest that they will quickly become bored – I know I did. And despite her caring for her paraplegic brother, I haven’t really warmed to Shela at all – rich kid who can afford a top designer, rightly or wrongly my mind classifies her just as spoiled and rich.

The only tension you create is over the event that is now imminent but she’s known about it for six years so it can’t be all that mind blowing, surely?

I hope this helps. I’m not trying to be destructive in my comments but you really do need to do some rethinking.

If my walls were painted thick(not tiny ones, but like a foot wide each) verticle light and dark pink stripes(like victorias secrets’), do you know what i mean? And my bed is black, and really elegant and victorian styled, my comforter would be black and white damask(damask is really elegant and victorian styled pattern, you can look up a picture on google) I would have med. pink sheets and the damask pillow cases for my sleeping pillows, and pink decorative pillows. my carpet is white, and mabey id have a black rug in the center. My dresser and desk are black as well as my bed, and my door, closet door and closet doors are white. ill have a mirror with a black frame hanging up on an empty wall, a white dry erase board above my desk, and a black and white painting above my bed. So all my furniture will be black, my doors white, my bedding black and white damask(or should it be plain pink with black and white pillows and sheets?),
and i have a few other things to add-
-My fan is black and silver( really sleek and modern, it will look great with anything- even my victorian bed)
- Im going to have a plain black dress form(mannequin) to put in the corner by my closet
- I have a black and white damask that inspired this room aloung with a victorias secret bag(Hehe!) that I will put in the corner by my desk.
- I have large windows(white framing) covering a whole wall, that i could put up black, white, damask, or even no curtains(no blinds, i dont like them)
- i will have little pink glittery, sequined, or feathered accesories like lamps and alarm clocks and telephones around.

BATHROOM:
Again, I have black and white furniture-black cabenetes, drawers, white marble counters, white marble floors, white toilet( my shower has its own seperate room, kinda complicated, but its how my sisters and my bathrooms conect, ive heard people call it a jack and jill before, but anyway- I dont have a shower in my bathroom), silver towel rings. I already own black and white damask towels, and i will get a pink bathroom/shower rug to go by my sink, a toilet rug, to go by my toilet, and a toilet seat cover, I have a black and white picture hanging up in there(of the effil tower)which i will keep, but what color should i paint my walls? Plain pink? The stripes again? Pink and darker pink polka dots? Pink and white and black stripes? More suggestions please(: And what color should my tissue box holder and tooth brush holder and trash be? Right now it is silver with a pearl more of a yellow, color tile on it. And its kinda important that my bathroom match my room, because i always leave my bathroom door open so you can see into it.

          Thanks so much for the suggestions, opinions, and ideas! I really want to change my room up because im starting highschool and its kinda a tradition to redo our room when we get to highschool(:
And Im really going around this color scheme and style, so any links, pictures, and if you describe it would bereally helpful! Do you think this room will look good? Should I tweek anything? Opinions opinions opinions!(: And please describe what you like and dont like and why, and offer another suggestion please!
***- I have a black and white damask *CHAIR* that inspired this room aloung with a victorias secret bag(Hehe!) that I will put in the corner by my desk.***

It’s amazing! Try the above link & have fun! http://getfor.info/312887/towel-ring

"Close Enough"

I’m so close, I’m almost there.
Fingers reaching through the air.
Just one more inch, just a little bit more.
Then the star will be mine, for all to adore.

My tips graze the edge of the fire
And I let my heart fill with desire
But I felt no heat, no scold of the sun.
My fingers curled, one by one.

I pulled down my fist, but no star was inside
I felt all my dreams wither and die.
Reality hurts, it’s bitter and rough.
It’ll never happen; I’ll never be close enough

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Wax Masquerade"
we stand, we mingle, we ponder things
no one dances, no one sings
praying no one will try to pry
the decorative plastic from our eyes
smooth, shiny skin -reflecting light
faux perfection, molded just right.
no one meddles, no one questions
hiding hurt, hate, and lost affections
carving perfect smiles to our lips
chiseling the heart until it fits
eyes so hollow, yet clear as glass
our only revelation beneath the mask
as heat and pressure fill the room
our pseudo selves start to melt and move
our false grins dissolve to reveal
the horrifying pain we truly feel
no place to hide, nowhere to run
blind to the ache known to everyone
the shielding facade puddling on the floor
legs too detached to head for the door
fear strikes the hearts of glass
shattering any souls that last
nothing to do but wait to be swallowed
by the endless darkness that soon followed
as the shells of ourselves lie wet on the ground
our true spirits never to be found
secrets breathe and choke the air
completing the silence and despair
our marble eyes genuinely made
are trapped inside the wax masquerade
i actually forgot to make a change in the 1st poem. it’s supposed to be 2 stanzas instead of three.
Hello.  Okay..you want brutal honesty.  U got it.  Regarding both poems.  A) The Good:  Honestly, you’re GOING to be very, very good.  but, I bet you’re a teenager…and I often see teenagers feeling the need to rhyme everything.  But you do it very well. Nothing comes off sounding silly. And I see the story you’re trying to tell very well.  The Bad:  However, real in-depth, passionate poetry doesn’t rhyme like you have above.  And the subject matters are common and overplayed.  For example: Close Enough – ..reaching out with hopes, etc…and coming up empty handed.  See?…heard that a million times, haven’t you?  And Wax Masquerade…umm…I think that one is about someone hiding behind a personal "mask" gets or is in fear of getting exposed.  That too is well written about by lots of people.  The brutal part is that your subject matter is nothing new and easy to get the picture. To easy.   Real poetry requires more depth from the writer, and the reader. Both want to dig deep inside of them to….feel.    My Recommendation:  As it is…and this is brutally honest…your writing is the best I’ve ever seen from a young person. Like I said…your word structure is intelligent, your rhyming isn’t hokey and I can see and follow your story…poems.  You obviously have skill..developing skill. But in future works…, open up, think harder, dig deeper and by all means…pursue literature studies in school and college. If you do…someone with your talent now…will have wonderful poetry in the future.
I have a chinese calligraphy set it contains two brushes, one brush holder/stand, one tub of red waxy stuff, a black stick with a decorative dragon, a marble stick with a dog / tiger on it, a small white bowl,a small golden spoon and a mediumish sized grey dish. Could anyone explain how to use it?
The article that I point to below is a good place to start, but to really use your set, you need to get a teacher.
I’ll tell you a little bit about it. The black stick with the dragon is ink, called 墨 mò, and the grey dish is the inkstone, or 硯 yàn. You rub the ink onto the stone to make a powder, then you add some water and stir it with your brush. One of first things your teacher will teach is how to know how much ink to grind and how much water to add.
The marble stick holds the calligrapher’s seal, or 篆 zhuàn. It’s the character’s of your name engraved in reverse, on the bottom of the stick. You touch it to that waxy red stuff, the stamp it onto your paper to sign your calligraphy work. (It’s trick to apply the seal paste; if you press to hard you’ll make a big mess). The animal on the other  end should be the animal for the year of your birth.
Im mostly concerned about chemical effects.
I bought some of those for flowers in a vase "no fish" and it seemed to have a wierd smell of chemicals, the even started to get oily
I saw some other things like that at the craft store and they seemed to have chemicals on them too, I would be very carefull about that, if it is very very smooth and unbroken, glass is generally safe for aquariums.  any paint on the glass needs to be fired into the glass,  I had a bunch of marbles in a vase of water with plants and some were fine, but others started to dissolve after a few months, it was impossible to predict which ones would be safe.
Honed is a smooth, scraped finish – think of flat paint, as opposed to glossy.
Polished marble is glossy. Either one should be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer after installation.
Read the article below for more info.
As for me, I went with a very unusual translucent gray-green granite with large iridescent butterfly- blue inclusions. Costly, but different. And no staining problems.
