  • How do you anchor a frameless shower door in glass tile?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under glass tiles | 3 Comments »

I have a frameless shower door that I am installing in glass tile. The tile is approx. 3" x 6". I drilled into a loose tile easily, but when I screwed a hinge onto it it broke as soon as pressure was applied. I have installed many frameless units in ceramic tile and other tiles/stones. Will the glass tile be less likely to break on the wall when it has more support? Are there any differences between anchoring in glass and ceramic tile?

If that tile was on secure it probably would have been ok. Glass tile can be harder than some but not as hard as some other. The trick is not to get run off when applying pressure with drill and masonry bit on the glass. Any questions you can e mail me GL

How about a morter joint?? Glass is not as hard as ceramic. Might need a framed door for that application.

i done one and the woman was absolute that no tiles were harmed . so i got some of that composite one bys used silicone to glue it to the wall and some 2/4 to press it on well . after both sides were done i done the bottom the same then a 2/4 across the top . then i added a little roof over it and hung a towel rack under it . she loved having the towel right there and room to hang her house coat . i then added some rope lights on the inside . she loved it . gave her enough light to see wen shaving .
