No Kitchen Stains on Limestone and Marble

Last week we put out a video showing how sealed limestone, travertine, and marble were resilient bathroom stains. This week, we show how these sealed stones are resilient to kitchen stains (but still prone to etching by acids). We sealed the stones with Miracle Sealants 511 Impregnator and left each substance on for 15 minutes.

Limestone and Travertine – They don’t stain

One of the most common myths we hear in the media (design magazines, etc.) about limestone, marble, and travertine is that they are very prone to staining. With a proper sealer, this is simply not true.

In this test, I poured red nail polish, red lipstick, contact lens fluid, mouthwash, moisturizer cream, and toothpaste onto four different stones (Lagos Blue limestone, Bianco Carrera marble, Crema Marfil marble, and Ivory travertine) to test to see if they will stain.

The results astounded even me!

Travertine marble is a natural stone that comes from the limestone family. Travertine in its early stages is considered to be a limestone but later on it will be transformed into travertine marble. Travertine is made of calcium carbonate and it is normally found in deposits near warm or hot springs.
